Prayer & Liturgy
At St Benedict’s, prayer and liturgy is one way that we express our Catholic identity and enact our Benedictine charism. One of the mottos of St Benedict was “ora et labora” or, “prayer and hard work”. As such, as well as students engaging in work, prayer also plays an important role in our daily life.
We start each day as a whole community praying our school prayer together. There are other times during the day, including at the start and finish of the day and before meals, where classes engage in communal prayer practices. There are also various times that students are offered to participate and engage in their own personal prayer.
Liturgies offer a time of community celebration and often mark significant events, including Beginning and End of Year liturgies, Ash Wednesday and Fast Day Mass.
